Uniforms for Pack 422
This page includes information to help your scout with his uniform. We use two styles of uniform.
- An informal "tee shirt" (Class II)
- The complete formal uniform (Class I)
The specific uniform appropriate for a specific event will be selected by your Den Leader or the Cub Master. Details are listed below.
Informal Tee Shirts (Class II)

Pack 422 provides all newly registered scouts with a personal class II "tee shirt" uniform. This tee shirt has a blue background with the Pack 422 logo printed gold across the front. The class II tee-shirt is worn to informal activities that are not appropriate for our nicer full dress uniform. Typical activities when the tee shirt is worn might include cleaning up a yard, planting trees, athletic games. It may also be worn to school.

Formal Dress Uniform (Class I)
All registered scouts are expected to purchase their own Class I full Dress uniform. The full dress uniform may only be worn to BSA or Pack 422 sanctioned activities. This uniform shirt is purchased by the scout's family from one of the two local scout shops. Links to the local scout shops are shown below.

When you go to the Scout Shop to purchase a dress Uniform you will need some information in order to select the correct shirt and accessories. Write this information down and take it with you before going to teh scout shop.

- Your Den leader will tell you the Den #
- We are in the Northern Star Council
Rank is aged based. The ranks for Cub Scouts are:
- Kindergarten - Lion
- Grade 1 - Tiger
- Grade 2 - Wolf
- Grade 3 - Bear
- Grade 4 - Webelo First Year
- Grade 5 - Webelo Second Year
Lions or kindergarten boys wear a "Lion Cub" Tee shirt for their formal meetings. It can be purchased at the Scout Shop.
The classic blue uniform shirt - is worn by scouts in grades 1 - 4 (Tigers, Wolves, Bears). This shirt comes in short or long sleeves. Either long or short sleeves is acceptable.

Scouts in grades 5 and 6 (Webelos) have some choices. They may continue to wear the blue shirt, or they transition into the Boy Scout style tan shirt. The tan shirt may be used in Boy Scouts. The decision on style of shirt for 4-5 grade scouts is up to to the family.
Don't purchase special BSA pants, socks, belts, caps. Pack 422 does NOT require them. Your son may wear clean nicer blue jeans, and his own belt.
When you select a shirt look for a BIG size. Your son will grow. You don't want to have to purchase a new shirt every year. Short sleeves are fine.
Male Leaders of Pack will wear a tan uniform shirt similar to the one work by the Webelos, with appropriate badges, neckerchiefs, and slides.
Female Leaders will either wear the classic tan shirt or the new yellow and blue uniform shirt, with appropriate badges, neckerchiefs, and slides.

Cub Scout Uniform Accessories and Patches
The dress or Full uniform includes a neckerchief designed with colors and symbols that represent the rank (age) of the scout. The neckerchief is held in place with a metallic clip referred to as a "slide". The slide is also decorated according to the rank of the scout.

Don't purchase a neckerchief or slide when you purchase a uniform for your scout. They will be provided by the Pack, and presented to him when he joins the Pack, or when he graduates to the next rank.
When you purchase the uniform shirt you will also need to purchase some accessory items.
- World Scouting Crest
- Northern Star Council Shoulder Patch
- Red numerals "4" "2" "2"
- Red shoulder loops (for tan shirts)
- Den # shoulder patch.
Before going to the scout shop make sure you know the Den your son has been assigned to. Your Den Leader or Cub Master will be able to give you this information.
The accessory patches may be sewn onto his uniform, or you may want to use a special no-sew adhesive called "Badge Magic" sold at the scout shop.
